Live Looping Mentoring & Coaching

Setup · Sound · Loops · Performance

Individual work on technology, sound, Live Looping, performance and musical clarity.

Individual starting points

Starting point: setup, workflow and musical question

Which devices are actually in front of you, where does the signal flow get stuck and what musical goals are you pursuing? What already works, and what would you like to work on next?

Setup & RoutingUnderstand signal paths and reduce unnecessary complexity.
Loopstation / Ableton / ControllerAlign devices and control options in a useful way.
Effects & SoundUse sound decisions, dynamics and processing deliberately.
Form & TransitionsDevelop loops, change between them and shape longer arcs.
Voice / Instruments / ElectronicsConnect sound sources into a personal language.
Live PerformanceDevelop a reliable working method for rehearsal and stage.
Musical work

From technology and sound to performance

Where is the music situated, and what musical vision should the setup support?

Sound sources

Voice, beatbox, idiophones, aerophones, strings and electronics.

Musical systems

Jazz improvisation, modal approaches, microtonality, open concepts and pulse-based forms.

Dramaturgy & Form

Atmosphere, pulse, building tension, density, release, rupture, turn, deceptive resolution and musical breathing.

Context

Stage, theatre, live scoring, workshop, ritual space and club/hybrid context.

I use Live Looping in solo performances, theatre and live scoring, workshops, music education projects and improvised performances. These applications shape the mentoring. Further sound layers are shown in Instruments & Sounds.

Process

How we work

01

Clarify

Define goals, questions and working frame.

02

Organise

Make signal paths and workflow visible.

03

Play

Try out sound, loops and form.

04

Continue

Define next steps.

Even after a session or an intensive weekend, detailed questions often remain. For short follow-up questions or adjustments, I am reachable by message or phone between coaching phases.

Formats

Online & In Person

The right format depends on the question, the existing technology and the desired scope of work.

Online

Online session

For focused questions about workflow, routing, structure, feedback and next technical or musical steps.

Multi-session online coaching phase

Several sessions with working phases in between, to develop technology and musical structure step by step.

In person

Day coaching

Direct work on technology, sound, timing, Live Looping and musical workflow.

Intensive coaching · 2–3 days

The weekend format has proved especially useful in practice: it offers enough time for setup analysis, musical work, concrete implementation and a clear next working structure.

  1. Friday: arrival, getting to know each other, reviewing the technology, first analysis and goal clarification
  2. Saturday: intensive work on routing, sound, Live Looping, technology and musical structure
  3. Sunday: final session, summary, next steps and departure in the afternoon

Experience & Background

Since 2009: Live Looping practice as a musical working method

Arystan develops polyinstrumental Live Looping setups with voice, trumpet, percussion, string instruments, electronics and digital workflows. Experience from stage, teaching, theatre and workshops helps translate technical questions into clear musical structures.

Clarify questions and the next step together

For a first enquiry, a short description of the technical starting point, current questions and desired format is enough.
